Thomas Friedman: Third Party Rising?

"We need a third party on the stage of the next presidential debate to look Americans in the eye and say: 'These two parties are lying to you. They can’t tell you the truth because they are each trapped in decades of special interests. I am not going to tell you what you want to hear. I am going to tell you what you need to hear if we want to be the world’s leaders, not the new Romans.'” Thomas Friedman in the New York Times, October 2, 2010.

Friedman is apparently unaware that we've had third and fourth parties saying this for years, but it's worth noting that even Tom Friedman understands that the current system is unacceptable.

Conor Friedersdorf: Why I Refuse to Vote for Barack Obama

Barack Obama looking almost as regretful as he should be.

"Sometimes a policy is so reckless or immoral that supporting its backer as 'the lesser of two evils' is unacceptable." Conor Friedersdorf in The Atlantic, September 26, 2012

Friedersdorf shows that sometimes people's conscience simply won't allow them to support either Major Party candidate with their vote, pragmatism be damned.
